Peripheral Interventions are minimally invasive procedures designed to treat peripheral artery disease (PAD), a condition in which arteries outside the heart, particularly in the legs, become narrowed or blocked due to atherosclerosis. PAD can lead to symptoms such as leg pain, cramping, numbness, and in severe cases, critical limb ischemia.

The cornerstone of peripheral interventions is endovascular therapy, which includes angioplasty, stent placement, and atherectomy. During angioplasty, a small balloon is guided to the narrowed artery and inflated to restore blood flow. Stents may be placed to keep the artery open and prevent restenosis.
